ITNC is hosting our FOURTH Student Open House for all local music therapy students and interns. We’re excited to welcome you to our clinic for an engaging night of informal networking, shared learning, and community support. Featured at this event will be several workshops with PRACTICAL skills to choose from. There will also be a panel of local professional music therapists where you will be able to ask any and all questions you might have. Don’t forget the photo booth, snacks, and giveaway!

Workshops

  • Session Planning & Scaffolding:

    In this interactive workshop, you'll learn how to create effective session plans and use scaffolding to support learning and engagement. We'll break down how to structure sessions step by step, incorporate music and sensory techniques, and build experiences that adapt to different needs. Expect hands-on demonstrations, real-life examples, and practical strategies you can use right away!

  • The Arc of Music Therapy Learning: Confidence and Internship Preparedness

    This workshop will give you practical tools to stay confident in your learning and prepare for your internship. We'll cover stress management, how to handle and reframe feedback in a helpful way, and tips for preparing your musical and written materials. Walk away with strategies to stay on top of your game and ready for the next step!

  • Clinical Verbal Skills 101:

    Knowing what to say (and when to say it) in a clinical session can feel overwhelming. This workshop breaks down the basics of using verbal skills effectively in therapy. We’ll explore how to be intentional with language, navigate conversations with clients, and adapt communication for different situations. Topics include emotional processing, giving clear directions, guiding transitions, and modeling target language. Expect real examples, practical tips, and a better understanding of how to communicate with confidence in sessions!
